Kunsthal Rotterdam is one of the icons of modern architecture. Designed by Rem Koolhaas (OMA), the building is renowned for its open structure and continuous sense of movement.
That philosophy continues into the cafe, creating a natural transition between inside and outside, between observing and experiencing.
For the development of our menu, we collaborate with Rotterdam-based chef Perry de Man. The partnership feels like a full-circle moment. Perry took his very first steps in hospitality at Kunsthal Cafe, starting in the dishwashing area and gradually learning more about the craft. Years later, he returns as the food curator of the renewed cafe.
For Perry, great food is not about complicated techniques or endless ingredient lists. The classics deserve attention. A great sandwich. Great cheese. A perfect croquette. Dishes everyone knows, executed exactly as they should be.
His vision aligns seamlessly with that of the renewed Kunsthal Cafe: accessible, distinctive, and focused on quality in every detail.
